Contend For The Faith Part 2

Lamentations 2:22 It is the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. Vs. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Luke 10:19 authority in Christ

Song: Steadfast Love Of The Lord

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning, new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness of Lord, great is thy faithfulness.

When we're not faithful he still is.

Song: Surely Goodness and Mercy

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. Andy my cup it overflows with love, peace and joy. With love, peace and joy. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. All the days of my like. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, forever, forever.

1 Kings 3:5 In Gibeon the Lord (Yahweh) appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God (Elohim) said, Ask what I shall give thee. Vs. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

That’s one of the promises to us; having the sure mercy of David. David blew it bad but he’s upright because of his understanding of the Lord.

The word Christian is not something believers started. Unbelievers started the term Christians meaning those who follow Christ. Communists say that religion caused all the wars and they are right. It was not caused by followers of Christ. Jesus said go out to every nation and make a body of Christ. He didn’t say go out and kill, rape and rob.

Satan is a copier, great psychologist and master strategist. Satan has a counter move with the move of the Lord. The Lord is bringing in the church; about entering into a blood covenant. George H.W. Bush talked about a new covenant when he was in office. It’s countering what the Lord wants to do in these last days to bring the church into the new covenant.

One of the promises to Israel and Abraham; the Lord said, they’re going to mess up. I’m going to straighten them up and you’re still going to have a people. So we who are born again; not knowing about covenant, we’re among all the paganism that the Jews were in Babylon but now it’s disguised in Catholicism.  There’s a stumbling block in the church and he wants to bring we, who are children of Abraham by faith.

Galatians 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Vs. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

We did a lot of unnecessary works. It’s strictly the faithfulness of God that our works are right.

Galatians 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. Vs. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

So not by works lest anyone boast. We’re children of Abraham and we’re living in the pagan world; we’re in the stumbling block of Revelation; or around it if we’re not participating in it. God, with this batch of faith children wants to bring them out of Babylon and bring them into a covenant relationship; similar what happened in Nehemiah. That is one of the essential things for this hour.

There’s a special on PBS about Africa I want to check out. They were talking about how different nations divided Africa and we all came from Africa. The psychology of the devil says we need to do away with the idea of racism which I could have told them that a long time ago. The real strategy is, if there’s no race you can break down nationalism.  You’re not loyal to any country. You’re world people. In 1985 a song was released, “We are the World”, a charity song for Africa, which was programming, we are one people and need to get together. That counterfeits what the Lord wanted all along; that his people would be from every tribe, every nation and every tongue. We are a royal generation meaning a royal race. We may be all different kinds of shades and heights and everything else but we’re still one born again race of people.

I can’t get moved by the Mount Rushmore monument considering George Washington had over three hundred slaves. They were beaten and not there because they were happy. He laid out Washington D.C. in masonic symbols.  It’s laid out like the male organ and laid out just like the Vatican. Abraham Lincoln wanted to break the financial power of the south; not because he loved blacks. He wanted to ship them back to Africa. Satan the psychologist robs the believer of the sense of being ambassadors and citizens of heaven; a pilgrim of strangers. My boss is going to come one of these days and I’m not going to be in this mess. I’m not going to kill for it, fight for it or preserve it. It says to pray for the peace of it. The old covenant and the new say, pursue the peace of where ever you’re at. As far as supporting the system the word says its run by the devil. Satan is changing the plan to bring about a world people, breaking down barriers. The Lord has long ago been working a royal race people out of the world that will obey him, please him and be caught up to meet him. The Lord says occupy until I come. It means to do business until I come. Some people worried about being raptured back when Hal Lindsay was talking about the rapture coming at any time. People dropped out of college and dropped out of this that and the other, getting ready for the Lord to return. They should have stuck to their schooling and business ideas and occupied until he comes.

Matthew 8:1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Vs. 2 And behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. Vs. 3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

The man said if you will and the Lord says I’m willing. That’s one of the major things you need to take from there. It should never be a question; Lord are you willing to heal me? The answer is I’m willing. Some people say we don’t know what the will of the Lord is.

Salvation is physical. That is sometimes hard to comprehend. I heard a lady once state after her husband died; this job has been my salvation. She may not have been attributing it to the Lord but in a sense it’s a physical salvation. It was helping her get her mind of losing her husband. Salvation is physically or morally. Jesus said, I will. People say according to his will. He may or may not want to, that kind of thinking killed a lot of people in my church.

Matthew 8:4 Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

There was a final offering to give when you’re cleansed.

Matthew 8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, Vs. 6 And saying, Lord my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. Vs. 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

Matthew 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

The bible says to pray one for another. We’re living too short of what we should be in Christ. So if you have an opportunity to cast out a demon you don’t have to have a title you have resident authority. You’ve been endued with power. The scripture says with power and authority they cast out demons. So the centurion says I understand authority you just say the word. That’s all you have to do.

Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Scriptures says he came unto his own and his own knew him not. Here he’s talking to an Italian, a gentile and pagan but he understood the Lord had authority and didn’t need to go there to physically do the job. He could just speak the word from where he’s at and it will be done.

Matthew 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. Vs. 12 But the children shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Vs. 12 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

He said, “As you have believed”; you believe I have authority? I’ll exercise it. It’s done. In the book of Psalms it says Selah which means stop and calmly think of that.

Matthew 8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, sick of a fever. Vs. 15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. Vs. 16 And when the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: Vs. 17 That is might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

So He’s fulfilling what he said he was going to do before going through the actual process. He believed he came to do the Father’s will.

We don’t understand what we’ve got. We’ve been given authority.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

We have been given power and authority over all so I am not going to fear as I walk through. Scriptures says behold, I give all the power over the enemy. God backs it up but he gives the power to us. Jesus told the disciples it was delegated authority. Policemen have been given authority but when you’re endued with power you have resident authority and that’s from the headquarters itself. We downplay what we’ve got.

I’m going over all this because the scripture says content, fight, and struggle for the faith that was once delivered to the saints. That’s what we want to do, need to do and have to do. Have the kind of faith in Hebrews 10:11. The fight is in our heart and in our head. When Jesus cursed the fig tree it was a sign of Israel but he told that tree to die. They didn’t see the results right then but when they came back by it was dead. That’s how we should think of cancer. Faith meets faith and tells that thing to die and it’s going to die.

Thinking back on my ministering when the Lord tells you to do something; do it. Even when I got it wrong I was doing something right. If the Lord tells you to turn around and throw the basketball backwards at the hoop; do it.

Sometimes I’m sent to just one person and the Lord knows their heart and their needs so I’m just going to do it.

Matthew 9:1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. Vs. 2 And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy (paralytic), lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer thy sins be forgiven thee.

Most the church world at that point would think he’s ready to die and go to heaven.

Matthew 9:3 And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. Vs. 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

He got word of knowledge what they’re thinking.

Matthew 9:5 For whether is easier to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?

James 5 if you’re repentant, you’re sick; you get prayed for, you get healed and your sins forgiven. That’s the sure mercies of David. It’s not that you play games with it.

Matthew 9:6 But that ye may the son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of palsy,) Arise, take up they bed, and go unto thine house.

The Catholics tried to take it, that the priest can forgive sins.

Matthew 9:7 And he arose, and departed to his house.

Matthew 9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at the meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

Meat is just another term for eating. It’s a figure of speech.

Matthew 9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? Vs. 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

This shows it’s not wrong to sit down with sinners and we can preach to them. Jesus was called a friend of sinners. He came for the sick and the sinners.

Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

It doesn’t mean you run with them and party but there’s nothing wrong with sitting down with sinners at the table and say, hey look up. Let me tell you about the goodness of the Lord.

One of the things we were taught to teach when I was teaching in prison programs was to earn the right to preach to them. Don’t just jump in there and think I’ve got one person saved and then jump back out and not help that person find a job or housing and different things they need and being a friend to them. Some thought they had to be there every Sunday or the pastor was going to be upset. He’s going to wonder what’s wrong they’re not here, which is wrong. If you’re fed and know the word you should be sharing with someone.

Matthew 9:14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but the disciples fast not?

So they’re saying, “Why aren’t you religious like us”? That was one of the problems with my religious background. They couldn’t reconcile the number of people healed in these Trinitarian meetings and Jenkins meetings; because they didn’t look right, talk right, dress right and do all these things. Yet blind eyes were opened, tumors fell off and short legs lengthened. So they had to conclude it had to be the devil because their attitude was “we are so right”. A pastor in Zanesville once said to me, “Well David, you know the devil can heal too.” “Well Pastor, the scripture says no man can do these miracles unless the Lord is with them”. Some things the devil can’t do.  The devil can’t create longer legs, eyeballs and new hearts.

Matthew 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber morn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

Matthew 9:18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

That is faith. He said just come lay hands on her and everything is going to be okay.

Matthew 9:20 And behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: Vs. 21 For she said within herself (her heart), If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. That’s faith.

Matthew 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

She touched him in faith and power was released.

Song: Touch the Hem of His Garment

If I could touch the hem of His garment. If I could touch some part of His clothes. I know I'd be healed, my sins forgiven. If I could just touch Him, I know I'd be whole.

Matthew 9:23 And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise. Vs. 24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

Tradition back then was to have professional mourners. They judged you on how much you loved that person based on how many people you paid to mourn. The scripture talks about the skillful women that were professional mourners.

Matthew 9:25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. Vs. 26 And the fame thereof went abroad into all that land. Vs. 27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

These blind folks saw what those who had eyes couldn’t see. They saw him as the Son of David, the promised one that was to come.

Matthew 9:28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Vs. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. Vs. 30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
